About me

I come from London, where I worked as an English teacher, preparing students for B2 First, C1  Advanced, C2 Proficiency  and IELTS exams.I moved to Poland in 2005. I worked in language schools in Rybnik, Żory and Racibórz, and also taught managers and employees at Elektrownia Rybnik, Ecolab, Mieszko SA and Kennametal. I took part in summer camps in Slovakia and Hungary. I was also a member of the jury of the Florian Nowak Theatre Festival in English at the 1st High School in Rybnik and the Foreign Language Song Contest in Chwałowice, where I witnessed the debut of the band October Leaves. In 2011 I graduated with a BA in English Philology from the NKJO in Gliwice.

After returning to England in 2011 I spent 7 years there with my family. I worked in British Council accreditedschools and my wife, who is Polish, taught in primary schools and at a a Saturday school for Polish immigrant children . On Saturday mornings I taught English Literature to teenagers from England. In 2014 I completed an MA in Media, Culture and Identity. As a teacher I have attended numerous training courses including an inspirational seminar in teaching pronunciation led by Adrian Underhill , the creator of the phonemic chart seen in classrooms worldwide.

I returned to Poland in 2018. Since then I have been teaching in Rybnik and online, collaborating with companies such as Pepsico, Mapal, Bihler and Vlassenroot. I have helped students prepare for their eighth-grade exams, high school exams and bilingual exams, as well as taking part in the Olimpiadzie Języka Angielskiego. I have also supported high school students learning history in English. Many of my students from Poland and England continue their education, work or life in the English-speaking world.

I am happy to have settled here as I love Poland and the Polish people. I have a large collection of DVDs of both classic and new series and a large library of books, which allows me to still have a good connection with my home culture. I am interested in history, do cryptic crosswords and enjoy socializing. I am also a long-time fan of Doctor Who – an iconic part of British culture. Maybe some of you share my interests?
